This Website (www.societyforscience.org) and its contents are the property of the Society for Science & the Public (“SSP”).  This web page states the “Terms of Use” for the use of this Website.  By using this Website, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use.  SSP may revise these Terms of Use at any time by updating this posting.  The terms “You” and “User” are used to refer to anyone who is accessing this Website.

Copyright and Proprietary Rights

Permitted Uses of Materials

1. Anyone who is doing personal, noncommercial research may view, print material, and temporarily store materials from this Website, provided that SSP’s copyright notices are not removed and that the reuse of material does not conflict with any of the prohibited uses below.
2. Others may view, print material, and temporarily store materials from this Website for internal use only provided that copying fees are paid to the Copyright Clearance Center for printing of files beyond that permitted by Section 107 or 108 of the U.S. Copyright Act, and that SSP’s copyright notices are not removed and that the reuse of material does not conflict with any of the prohibited uses below.

Prohibited Uses of Materials

User agrees not to use the name of SSP or its logo for any promotional or commercial purpose or any other purpose without the prior written consent of SSP.

Prohibited Uses of Website

User agrees not to post any false or inaccurate biographical information, delete or change any information posted by another person, and share User’s password with any third-party.

User agrees not to do anything that interferes with the proper working ability of this Website.  This includes activity that can overload this Website’s infrastructure, use of software or other device other than that which is available from SSP, and tampering with the software that makes up this Website.

User agrees not to engage in any unlawful or commercial activity on this Website.

User agrees not to post material that is copyrighted without first obtaining proper written consent from the copyright owner.

Collected Information

This Website collects information about the users of this Website in order assist in determining which parts of this Website visitors find most valuable.  This allows SSP to continually improve the services this Website provides.  User identities remain anonymous unless the User provides this information as a part of User’s registration.  SSP uses your IP address to help diagnose problems with this Website’s servers and to administer this Website.

Users may use the Website without registering, but registration must occur in order to use any of the personalized web services.  The  registration form requires specific contact information, including name and e-mail address.  The customer contact information is used to learn more about our users and to contact users when necessary.  Unique identifiers (such as user IDs and passwords) are collected to verify the user's identity and for use as account numbers in our record system.

E-mail Communications

SSP communicates with its users by e-mail for specific web-related functions, such as password reminders.  Users who register with this Website have the option of receiving occasional e-mails from SSP about new features and items of interest.  SSP does not release User’s email addresses to outside organizations. 

Cookies

This Website uses a cookie (a small file that a web browser places on a computer’s hard drive) to identify the user to SSP.  This Website does not use cookies to collect any personal information about users and does not sell or make them available to other organizations.

Termination of Account

SSP reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to pursue all of its legal remedies, including, but not limited to deletion of User’s postings from this Website and immediate termination of User’s registration with this Website or ability to access this Website and/or any other service provided to User by SSP, upon any breach by User of these Terms of Use or if SSP is unable to verify or authenticate any information User submits to this Website for registration.

Waiver of Liability
